When does an Albanian law enter into force?
Updated on 3 November 2026
An Albanian law enters into force no sooner than 15 days after publication in the Official Journal (Constitution, Art. 84(3)). Many laws state the term in their last article. Law no. 78/2014, for example, says it "enters into force 15 days after publication in the Official Journal."
There is one exception. For extraordinary measures, and in cases of need and urgency, when the Assembly decides by a majority of all members and the President consents, the law enters into force immediately, once publicly announced. It must be published in the first available issue of the Journal (Art. 84(4)).
